The Premier Division of the Golden Gate Women's Soccer League with support from the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department will be hosting a Charity Fundraising Season, Saturday's at Boxer Stadium.

During the current fall season a different Charitable Organization will collect donations at the gate during the 4 Premier Games played consecutively on each of the scheduled Saturday dates. We recommend $5.00 for Adults, children under 12 free) By helping a deserving Organization raise funds for their program, donators will be rewarded by getting to watch 1, 2, or all 4, exciting soccer games played by the best women soccer players in the Bay Area!! It's good soccer, good kharma and a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

All Games are at Boxer Stadium @ 9am, 11am, 1pm, and 3pm, unless otherwise posted.

  • Nov 18th (at Kezar Stadium) ~ the Special Olympics, San Francisco Chapter

If you can't make the game, donations can still be made through the GGWSL to the Organization of your choice.

Team History

The San Francisco Nighthawks began in 1995 as a charter member of the W-League, a division of the United System of Inter-regional Soccer Leagues (USISL). They primarily formed to bring quality soccer to all levels of the community, and to promote the stature of female athletes as role models. In 1998, the Nighthawks became a founding member team of the newly formed Women's Premier Soccer League.

They Nighthawks joined the Premier Division of the GGWSL in the Fall of 2002, placing 4th overall that season, 2nd in the Spring of 2003, 6th in the Fall of 2003, 2nd in the Spring and Fall of 2004, and 1st in the Spring and Fall of 2005.

Team highlights include:

  • 1998 trip to Shanghai, China where the Nighthawks scored a 2-1 victory vs. China. The roster included WUSA draft picks Emmy Barr, Tiffany Hadfield, Keri Sanchez and Jen Tissue.
  • Fielded a team for scrimmages against the San Jose CyberRays, a member of the WUSA franchise.
  • Several current Nighthawk players participated in a WPSL all-star game versus the Ghana Women's National Team as a preliminary to the 2003 Women's World Cup.
